Maintaining Balance in Daily Life

Beach

There are so many areas of our lives pulling at us for our attention.  Our physical needs in life tend to seem the most important.  It’s easy to spend our days taking care of all the things we can see but if we are listening we will hear a soft still voice calling us to balance physical and spiritual.

Jesus said, “Don’t be so concerned about perishable things like food.  Spend your energy seeking the eternal life that the Son of man can give you…” – John 6 :27

Of course we take time to eat, exercise, work, ect… but what about our spiritual needs?  Jesus reminds us to take time everyday away from the distractions of our physical needs to “Spend our energy seeking the eternal life.”  He says,“I am the bread of life.” – John 6: 48  With this promise  He encourages us  to take time every day not only to eat perishable food but to enjoy the spiritual food He has for us too.

I think it’s possible to be so spiritually minded that we can become no earthly good but likewise we can be so distracted with earthly things that we completely miss the daily spiritual blessings God has for us.

I love the beach.  I took this picture at the beach last month during a long peaceful walk.  When I am at the beach all my life’s distractions seem to disappear.  Peace.  I live about an hour away from the beach, close enough to visit but far enough away that it’s not a daily part of my life.  The great thing about God’s promise is that all the peace I need is available everyday through Jesus.  Lasting peace, better than any day at the beach is available if I set aside the time for Him.

Every spiritual need we have is found in Him.  Every day He leads us in the way of everlasting.

Beautifully said. I love that all the chaos of our days can melt away in the presence of our Heavenly Father. The gorgeous photo was like a mini-vacation. Thanks for that!
