Hope through Grace for New Beginnings

January 22, 2011

A few weeks ago it actually snowed at our house.    I took this picture just after the snow started.  Later that evening a storm came and covered everything with about 2-3 inches.  Granted, it was Southern California snow – it didn’t last long.  Just long enough to be pretty then it was gone.

Yesterday, only weeks after everything was covered with ice and snow… the hope of new beginnings bloomed.  Beautiful and cheerful bursting with signs of vibrant life!

The cycle I witnessed in my yard reminds me of the seasons in our own lives.  Some days the life within us can feel as though it is completely covered up.  Sometimes with burdens, sometimes with mistakes of sin.  We are all very aware of our shortcomings.  The things we should have done, but didn’t.  The things we should not have done, but did.

James 4:17 Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.

Romans 14:23 …If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.

Yet at the very same time, as we are being weighed down by the revelation of our humanity and sin nature… God comes to us and brings hope through grace for a new beginning.  Grace.  Much needed.  So undeserved.  He comes and uncovers within us things we never knew were there.  He frees us.  He cleanses us.  He calls us  His own.

Titus 2:14

He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin,

to cleanse us,

and to  make us his very own people,

totally committed to doing good deeds.

~Thank you Jesus for amazing grace and new beginnings
