Practice. Not Perfect.

December 16, 2010

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into PRACTICE

is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  ~ Matthew 7:24

Perfection.  Unrealistic expectations.  The unattainable goal.

The pursuit of perfection is a burden and hindrance.  Jesus came to free us from the weight of burdens that hinder our life.  We have the power of His truth to set us free.

Jesus says ‘everyone who hears His words and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.’  He didn’t demand perfection… instead he instructs us to ‘put into practice’ the truth that we have heard.

I find great hope and encouragement that although I can not be perfect – I can practice

I am not a perfect steward of all the blessings God has given me but I can practice the principles of stewardship and still reap the benefits of wisdom.  I am not a perfectly kind and compassionate person  but I practice kindness and compassion.  In my pursuit of physical fitness I will not find perfection… but I can practice healthier living.

Enjoy the freedom of practice – not perfect.
