Tuesday’s Tips ~ Look Fear in the Face

February 23, 2010

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.  ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

“Look Fear in the Face!”  “You Must do the thing which you think you cannot do!”

Every time we listen to fear our we limit our abilities.  On the other hand, every time we face our fears we gain the strength, courage and confidence to reach our full potential in life.

I’ve heard it said that everyday we should do the one thing that we fear the most – First.  You know the things I am talking about.  They’re usually the things that get pushed to the bottom of the daily list and then added to the next day.  We avoid them like the plague because for whatever reason they intimidate us.  Moving those things to the top of our list and doing them first, gives us renewed confidence, courage and strength for the rest of the things left on our list.

Let’s put Eleanor Roosevelt’s wise advice to good use….  Look your fear in the face and do the things which you think you cannot do.  Because you can!

I like this concept. In fact, Husband recommended I read “In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day,” by Mark Batterson, which is an amazing book which encourages people to set their eyes on God and follow their dreams, setting fear aside. I highly recommend checking out the book, whether you think you’d like it or not.
