Becoming a God Pleaser ~ Bible Study Notes

Field_of_Flowers_previewLive to Please God not people

Galatians 1:10 (NIV)  Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God?  Or am I trying to please men?  If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

Colossians 3:23 (NLT) Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Ephesians 5:10 (NIV) Find out what pleases the Lord.

  •  When I decided to become a God please rather than a people pleaser, I found that my life became more consistently peaceful.  We can never please all people, all the time.  It is frustrating and exhausting to try.  We all want to be liked and appreciated, but our confidence and attitudes should not be dependent on the opinions of others.  People shouldn’t have that kind of control over our life.
  • These scriptures encourage us to live with a focus on God and His opinion of us, “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord and not for people.” “Find out what pleases the Lord.”  Being a God pleaser has brought so much freedom and fulfillment in my life.  I might not please everyone all the time, but as long as I am good with God, I’m ok with that.  It is comforting to me, to know that God always understands me even when others might not.  When I live and work and do everything with my whole heart for God first, I am no longer distracted by the opinions of others.

Fours Ways to Live as a God Pleaser

1 Thessalonians 5:16- 19  Always be joyful.  Never stop praying.  Be thankfull in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.  Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.

  • Always be joyful.  Enjoy Life!! 🙂  God gave us this life and He wants us to live it with joy…. ALWAYS.  Not everything in life is going to make us happy.  Joy is a deeper revelation within us that in spite of our trials and problems we are going to be ok.  God is with us, no matter what we face.  Joy keeps us positive in life.  I believe in keeping the faith no matter what happens and Enjoy Life!
  • Never stop praying.  Prayer is our communication with God.  He wants us to talk to him.  Sometimes we can feel like we shouldn’t bother God with the little things, but that’s not how God sees it.  He never wants us to stop praying.  He wants to partner with us through prayer for the little and big things in our life.  He love us.  He wants to spend time with us.  Prayer welcomes divine miracles in our life.  Keep praying… He is listening.
  • Be thankful in all circumstances.  A heart of gratitude keeps our perspective straight.  We are blessed.  We have an entire Bible filled with promises that God himself gave to us.  Take time everyday to not only count your blessings but truly be thankful for them.
  • Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.  Jesus gave us more than salvation, He left the Holy Spirit to be with us always.  We are truly never alone.  The Holy Spirit of God is my companion.  He desires to be your companion everyday too. Welcome him, invite him, if you do He will walk with you and talk with you.  He will be your guidance, your comforter, your counselor, your ever-present help.

    Great things to do.

Sometimes easier said then done, though.
