Philanthropy- Make a Difference

October 23, 2009

Helping-HandsOne of the best ways to truly enjoy life is to make a difference in someone else’s. Putting another person’s need before our own is one of the most rewarding opportunities we have in life.

Philanthropy goes much deeper than giving a donation to a charitable cause.  It is the willingness to give time from our own busy schedules to help someone in need, encourage them not to quit or support them in their dreams.   I believe that making a difference in someone else’s life should be a daily life goal.

Mothers raising their children understand this very well.  Countless times though out the day her agenda, work schedule and plans will come to a screeching stop, so that the needs of her child can be met.  As a mom of two grown children, I can assure you that the rewards of parenting far out way the inconveniences along the way.  My pastor often talks about the ministry of inconvenience.  Are we willing to be temporarily inconvenienced so that, more importantly we can make a difference.

Never underestimate the power of hope.  Bringing hope into someone’s situation might not change the reality of their current circumstances.  However, hope always changes perspective and when perspective changes, reality will follow.
