The many Seasons of Family Life

October 23, 2009

Smiles, tears, laughter, fulfillment and disappointment all at the same time.  Husbands, children, parents, siblings and don’t forget all the extended family members too.  Each one enriches and equally challenges our lives.  My family relationships have brought out the very best of me and at times I will admit they have also revealed the absolute worst in me as well.

Family Life goes through seasons.  Over the last twenty-three years I have experience many stages of marriage; some of them wonderful and others… well, not so wonderful.  However, I think that each of them helped to make me a better woman.   As I sit here writing I think of some of the  “Stages of Marriage”  my husband and I have been through.

“Pre-marriage Stage”  – “Honeymoon Stage” – “Pre-children Stage” – “Oh my gosh, I’m Pregnant Stage” – “Oh, Yeah. I’m not just a mom; I’m still a wife Stage” – “I love you… not so sure, I like you right now Stage” – “I’m more in love with you than ever before Stage” – “Kids are grown up, the nest is empty Stage”

The list goes on and on, and that’s just marriage . Family Life has many seasons in it.  Every season brings blessings and burdens.  If we are teachable through the process, there are life lessons we learn along the way.
